Higher Education
The University of Luxembourg
The University of Luxembourg was founded in 2003 and offers a variety of courses: bachelors, masters and doctorates. The university is a multilingual establishment where mobility is highly encouraged.
The University of Luxembourg has three faculties:
- the Faculty of Sciences, Technology and Communication (STC)
- the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (DEF) and
- the Faculty of Arts, Human Sciences, Art and Education Sciences (LSHASE)
The university’s activities are spread over three campuses: Limpertsberg, Kirchberg and Walferdange. The activities of the STC and LSHASE faculties will be established on the new site of the Science Park at Esch/Belval.

The brevet de technicien supérieur (BTS - two-year vocational higher education diploma)
BTS is a higher education course of two years, with the goal of facilitating entrance to working life. The BTS course is focused on the acquisition of professional and technological skills.
The course is open to those holding a CATP, a technician’s diploma, a technical or general secondary education diploma or a recognised foreign diploma equivalent to one of these Luxembourg diplomas.
Admission to a BTS course is by application or through an examination. For enrolment procedures and other information please contact the college in question directly.
The following colleges offer BTS courses:

o accounting/company management
o secretarial/office management
- lycée technique des arts et métiers:
o animation designer
o media operator
o technical engineering (from 2010-11 academic year)
o information technology (from 2010-11 academic year)
- lycée technique pour professions de santé:
o paediatric nurse
o psychiatric nurse
o anaesthetics and intensive care nurse
o midwifery
o technical medical surgery assistant
- lycée Josy Barthel
o works foreman (from 2010-11 academic year)
Music conservatoires
For students who wish to improve or start a professional career, music conservatoires offer courses in all the main disciplines of music, singing, theatre, classical dance and jazz dance.

Conservatoire du Nord (site in Diekirch and in Ettelbruck)
